I think memes are interesting just from the folklore aspect of them. Over the last month or so I’ve seen several on friends’ blogs. And I was even tagged in one of them. So I’ll give a few of them a go right here.

Where Were You When…

This one was interesting to me because so many of these things really don’t think they should be memorable occasions. There are so many other things that happen in the world that we should remember, do I really care about “Thriller”?

  1. Where were you when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated?
    I was not born yet.
  2. Where were you when Michael Phelps won his 8th gold medal in the 2008 Olympics?
    My living room. I love watching the Olympics.
  3. Where were you when the verdict for the O.J. Simpson murder trial was announced? The white Bronco chase?
    Probably in English class my senior year of high school.
  4. Where were you when you first saw the music video for Michael Jackson’s “Thriller?”
    If I’ve ever seen all of it, it was probably on Halloween this year.
  5. Where were you when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon?
    Watching from heaven.
  6. Where were you when you first heard about the September 11th attacks on America?
    Getting ready to start teaching my classes in Mexico.
  7. Where were you when John Stockton hit “the shot” to send the Utah Jazz to the finals? (Mostly for Jazz fans)
    Um, at work at Chuck E. Cheese’s? Depends what year that was.
  8. Where were you when you first saw a “Star Wars” movie?
    We watched them at home. Although I did line up at the theater to get tickets to watch “A New Hope” when it was re-released.
  9. Where were you when the Berlin Wall fell?
    Junior High.
  10. Where you were when you first heard a Beatles song?
    No idea. But I do know my mom helped me learn my multiplication facts with them.
  11. Where were you when Hurricane Katrina hit?
    Teaching school.

    Was I supposed to care?

    Is this really something we need to remember?
