Today is the perfect day for a parade. So this thread will be my parade. Please make a comment on what you will be contributing as part of my parade.
I’ve been in parades with marching bands before. But I don’t think I want to do that for today’s parade.
For my parade today I want to ride on a float. The float has representations of jungle animals on it, especially an elephant with really big ears. With really big out of proportioned jungle flowers.
Heidi, Amanda, and Mr. Me have all done this. Looked like fun. No, I would not jump off a cliff if they did.
A= Attached or single: There are a lot of things I am attached to. I’m very attached to my family. But I am not married.
B= Best Friend: Yes. I have special friends I know I can count on.
C= Cake or Pie: Depending on the frosting, I can really go for cake. But I like cupcakes better. And Pie is supreme.
D= Day of Choice: A day that has chocolate.
E= Essential Item: My Palm. Without it I have no idea what is going on.
F= Favorite Color: I really like green. Just about any shade too.
G= Gummi Bears or Worms: Bears, definitely bears.
H= Hometown: Um, I tell people I grew up in El Paso, Texas. I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. I lived in Orem, Utah, for the last 5+ years. But I live in Tucson, Arizona, now. So does that mean my hometown is Tucson now?
I= Indulgence(s): Chips A’hoy chewy chocolate chip cookies. Bubble baths. Fabric.
J= January or July: I like them both. I love snow. I love my birthday. I love summer. I love winter.
K= Kids: are little people
L= Life is incomplete without: laughter, ice cream, love
M= Marriage Date: I plan on having a date at my marriage, yes. And I certainly hope it is my husband to be.
N= Number of Siblings: 2
O= Oranges or Apples: I’ll take either, but whichever it is, they need to be fresh. And not red delicious apples. Those really aren’t that delicious. I love Pink Lady apples.
P= Phobias or Fears: moths, dark, being alone

R= Reason To Smile: I try to find at least one reason each day.

U= Unknown Fact about Me: I drink a gallon of milk a week, at least.

My friend Josh gave me the book Story People by Brian Andreas last year. I love it. It’s a book you can sit down and read for just a minute, or get lost in for a long time. I’ve decided to read it cover to cover. And keep a pencil handy. I’m marking the ones I like with a smile, heart, or star depending on why I like them. Maybe that will help me find them again when I’m flipping through it searching. Flipping through this book is worse than looking up words in a dictionary and getting side tracked by all the other fun words that are in there. It always took me so long to do my spelling homework in elementary school because I’d find all kinds of other words to look up other than the ones on the spelling list. Every time I go flipping through this book I find five other ones I like and can never find the exact one I was looking for. But maybe that’s for the best.
My students have this assignment this week. I thought it would interesting to see what would happen if I asked my blog reading public the same question.
They have to find two pictures, one of someone they think is attractive, the other of someone that is not attractive to them. We did stipulate that they can’t be pictures of people they know (particularly if they are going to say they are unattractive). They then have to write a short paragraph about why they like the one and don’t like the other.
What is attractive to you and why? What is not attractive to you and why?
Today is “Tell a Fairy Tale Day.”

I wonder if I’d have time to read Beauty by Robin McKinley today. Or maybe Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine (I would never spoil such a good book by actually seeing the movie). (I actually know where both of those are on my bookshelf too.) If I knew where Seven Daughters and Seven Sons by Barbara Cohen and Bahija Lovejoy was, I might pull that one out too. Or maybe I should go to the library and get the sixth Artemis Fowl book. Or maybe get the Spiderwick Chronicles, that one looks interesting.
But I have to read and grade papers my students wrote too. Those are probably a bit on the fairy tale side as well.
There are very few places where chocolate chips are not a good thing. I think the drier might be one of them. But I would also have to say that they do not belong inside your printer.
