More on my thumb

Two weeks ago I went back to my doctor for my thumb because it didn’t seem like it was getting any better at all. I was getting real frustrated with it, with the fact that I couldn’t use it, with the fact that it still hurt, a lot. Frustration to the point of wallowing bordering on depressing.

The voice of the people

The California Supreme Court today starts hearing a case on whether or not the majority of the people in California actually speak for the majority of the people in California on the issue of marriage.  This is the second time this court has heard a case along these lines. The last time they decided the majority of the people in California did not speak for the majority of the people.

I hope the judges act with more wisdom, and morality, this time.

Parade Day!

drumIt’s a perfect day to March “Fourth” into a parade don’t you think?

Last year’s Random Giggles parade wasn’t that big. Maybe we can get a few more entries this year.

This year I think I want to ride a unicycle in the parade, or one of those old-fashioned bikes with the HUGE front wheel. And I’ll wear a funny hat.

What an amazing day today is! March 2nd.

It’s Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Happy 105th Birthday! We had Dr. Seuss Hat Day at school a few years ago. So I wore as many hats as I could get on my head. It was a bit heavy, but fun. The kids kept giving me a bad time that I was just supposed to wear one hat, but I told them that it wasn’t “one hat day” but “hat day.” They thought I was silly (they thought that most days anyway). I felt a bit like Bartholomew Cubbins.

(Here’s hoping my pictures of the moon this month don’t cause the same fiasco as my pictures of the moon last month.)

I went to close my blinds the other evening and noticed that my white blinds were actually a slight shade of purple. That could only mean there was a beautiful sunset. I checked, it was gorgeous. So I got my camera and got these pictures. They really don’t do it justice.

And then tonight was another conjunction between Venus and the Moon. They were so close! Absolutely beautiful. I haven’t been able to see Comit Lulin because of light pollution and cloud cover (more on that later), but even with a slight cloud haze tonight, I got some gorgeous shots of the two of them. At least I think they are gorgeous.

How can a person not look up and be awed at the wonder of creation?

When I got off my mission I had roughly one year left at BYU before I finished my bachelor’s degree. I took a few classes during the summer and then did my student teaching in the fall (I should really blog about that experience some time too). I only had three classes I had to take during the winter semester of 2002 and I’d be done. So I took seven classes. And I’m so very grateful I did. Two of those extra four classes turned out to be two of the four most influential classes I have taken in my entire life. Today I want to blog about one of them.
