I’ve seen this on a few other blogs and thought I’d give it a go. But I added the stuff at the end because I thought it should extend equally in both directions. I have this thing with balance and palindromes and such.

20 years ago: 17 March 1988. We’d moved to Santa Fe the summer before. I was in fourth grade. I’d spent several months early ditching math because I didn’t like that they were sending me to a sixth grade class to do math and hadn’t talked to me about it. By this time I was okay with math though.

10 years ago: 17 March 1998. It was my second year at BYU. I’d applied to the elementary education program. Probably been accepted too.

5 years ago: 17 March 2003. This was the end of my first year teaching elementary school. I was really starting to understand the joke that the best three reasons to teach were June, July, and August. I’d started the year with very little idea of what in the world I was doing, by this time I’d settled in to it a bit and was starting to feel like I could do it. I was working my way in to the community of the school as well and finding my place with everyone else.

3 years ago: 17 March 2005. I was the Relief Society president in my ward. I was getting ready to take the GRE that summer and apply to start graduate school the following year. I was still teaching elementary school.

1 year ago: 17 March 2007. I was taking my second belly dance class. Still teaching elementary school, but I was starting to get ready to leave. I’d decided to continue with a Doctorate. I was 1.5 semesters shy of my Masters.

So far this year: I’ve moved to Tucson. I’ve started a Doctorate degree.

Yesterday: I went to Church. I worked on my journal. I finished watching Lagaan from the night before. I watched the Church DVD about the testimonies of Christ. My visiting teachers came. I ate some apple pie. I started yet another book.

Today: I worked on making a DVD. I went running. I read a book. I talked to my mom in New York and a friend on his way to Moab.

Later tonight: I’m going to read some more and take a nice warm shower and cook something for dinner. I’ll probably burn a CD for my mom too.

Tomorrow: I’m going to the post office to mail probably three packages. I’m going to call around and get some estimates on replacing my windshield. I’ll go running again too.

This year I hope to: Get settled here in Tucson and make some progress on this latest degree. I’ll also be running the Deseret News Marathon and qualifying for Boston.

3 years from now: I hope to be pretty much finished with my course work for my Doctorate and getting deep into my thesis. I’d also really like to be married in three years.

5 years from now: I hope to be finished with my Doctorate degree and know what I’m doing with the rest of my life. And as long as I’m married by then, I’d like a kid or two as well.

10 years from now: Definitely not in school any more.

20 years from now: Getting ready to send my own kids to school.

I’m a lasagna hog, go hang a salami.

    or…

Swap God for a Janitor, Rot in a jar of dog paws.

Yep. I love a good palindrome.

Mr. Me – did you ever see my palindrome book? I love it. It’s called I Love Me Vol. I

Fran had “get good and kissed” on her list. I want to add that to my list. I’ll be realistic and not add it for “tomorrow,” I do want it on the list of everything after that.
