I don’t work here, I’m just here for the free fabric.

I’ve been going to Hancock Fabric three or four Saturdays a month since April. Supposedly I’m working there, but I haven’t made any money yet. I’ve gotten a lot of fabric though.

What I learned about the birds outside my window

Categories: Learn Something

It takes them one day to get all the birdseed I put in the feeder out of the feeder and on the ground. They can then spend about two days eating it off the ground. Why do I put it in the feeder?

The wonders of the internet

Someone from the country of Tanzania looked at the pictures of my garden this morning. That is just very strange and slightly surreal to me. To think that someone way out there is looking at stuff I do here, it’s just amazing.

School Supplies

Categories: Education, Happy Things

I’m a geek. Or a teacher. Or someone who loves school. Or maybe a combination of all three.

About two weeks ago I was at Wal-Mart one night picking up a few things, and I noticed they were getting ready to put out the school supplies. Giddy! So I called my mom to share the news.

I love the Spacemaker pencil boxes, and this is the best time of year to buy them. They are 97 cents right now. I always buy several each year, watching for the new colors. And I never buy enough. I always need more the next year. I keep all kinds of things in them. They stack. They are partially see through so I can tell what is in them. They are sturdy, I haven’t had a single one break on me yet. So I bought four Saturday because it was my birthday on Sunday. I’ll probably by some more before the end of August. I don’t even know what I need them for yet, I just know I’m going to need them.

I’m also a Crayola snob. I will only buy Crayola crayons, markers, and colored pencils. And I love them. So yesterday, when I was back at Wal-Mart, I bought a box of 8 crayons to keep in my purse, because you never know when you are going to need to color something.

I like getting rulers and scissors and glue sticks and crayons and notebooks and pencil boxes this time of year. It’s so much fun.

Cupcakes

Categories: Happy Things, Random

I know that cupcakes and cakes are the exact same thing. I know they have the same ingredients, you can put the frosting on them both, and that they taste the same.

But I like cupcakes better.

Which is why I make cupcakes for my birthday and not cake.

And now you know.

What I learned about aardvarks and Kokomo

Categories: Learn Something

Aardvark comes from the Afrikaans words for earth “aard” and pig “vark.”

Kokomo is an actual place. It is an island about an acre big with a Thai restaraunt, a pool, jacuzzi, bar, and a beach.42D
