Slow Down!!!

Time is moving so very fast right now. This is the seventh week of school and we are already having parent teacher conferences tonight and tomorrow. The problem is I was expecting them to be tomorrow and Thursday. Oops. So I was scrambling to pretend I was ready for them today. I’m glad I wore nice slacks and my good shoes to work today.

But this whole school year has gone so very fast. Next week is already Fall break. I started tutoring in the morning this week. It’s just crazy how fast everything is coming this year. It seems like we had more time to breath in the past.

My application to the University of Arizona was due yesterday. I got an email today letting me know they’ve gotten all of the parts of the application in. Seems like I am waiting for a lot of things these days. I hope I find out about that soon.

I’m keeping busy while I wait though. I have four quilts on my living room floor in various stages of being finished, from just cutting it out to needing to be basted, quilted, and binded. But when I look at how many more quilts I have waiting on shelves and in boxes, those four won’t make much of a dent. I sewed a dress last night too. There must be some kind of secret to getting the top of a side zipper to look good, but I haven’t figured out what it is yet.

And then there’s the Institute class I’m going to, my belly dance class, substituting on occasion, working 2-3 Saturdays at the fabric store, dinner with friends, BYU football games, and trying to get some exercise in. I really don’t know how to slow down at all.

And then there’s my book list that is growing rather than getting smaller. I did real well reading all the time before I was called to be the Relief Society president three years ago and started my Masters degree last January. Now that both of those do not occupy my time any more, I should really get back to reading more.

Oh, and in regards to going slower – because of all the construction on 800 North, it seems like traffic on my street as more than doubled. Unfortunately, so has the speed of the cars that are using it. The speed limit is 25 MPH, it is a residential street. Yet most cars are going close to 40 MPH. If I were going to be there any longer I’d be petitioning for a speed bump to try and slow everyone down.

And I had to scrape frost off my windows for the first time when I went to work this morning.
