The Unexpected Influence

The kids loved trick-or-treating last night. They love wearing their costumes and people were giving them candy. Yea! But they also loved seeing all the people who came to our house as well.

After we’d come home we started getting older kids, teenagers, all with incredible costumes. We opened the door once and one of the kids was a scary freaky spider with his face completely covered and speaking in a gravelly voice. I was a touch concerned with what seeing such a spider would do for our kids when they were going to sleep a short time later.

After getting Shimei in bed I was singing to Shimri before putting her in bed as well when Shimei interrupted the song to remind me about the spider. And what was it about the spider that stood out to him, that he was going to think about just before going to sleep?

“Spider said ‘Thank you,’ Mom.”

Thank you, young man dressed as a scary freaky spider, for being a positive influence of good manners for my 2-year-old son. You did good.

I think the neighbor down the street is blogging today about how his two-year-old hasn’t been able to sleep since. :brett:

😆 If you’re going to be visited by a spider, at least it’s a polite one.

I think it’s interesting what children remember. That’s a much more polite spider than most I’ve encountered in my life!
