Today is “Great Poetry Reading Day.” Great poetry comes in so many different forms. And that’s one of the things I absolutely love about it. It can be exactly what you need it to be at the time.

But what makes a poem great is that it speaks to some part of you. That can be a deep somber part. It can be a humorous part. It can be a part that only exists in a memory. And it can be a part that only exists in a dream. But it speaks to you. If you haven’t found a poem speaking to you yet, you just haven’t looked hard enough.

This, while it may not look like poetry, is. It’s an oral form called Def Poetry or Poetry Slam. And it speaks to me.

What poems speak to you?
