How I know I’m a grown up

I know I have problems realizing that the reality around me is actual reality. I’m an adult? When did that happen?

But growing up there were a few milestones that I set out for me how I would know I’m a grown up.

I decided that when I had dressing other than Ranch on my salad I was an adult.

When I could eat a taco without having it all fall out on the plate then I was an adult.

When I could eat corn on the cob without leaving the cob looking all fuzzy from the corn skins still being stuck to it, then I was an adult.

I can’t remember exactly why I decided those were markers for being a grown up. But when I’d look around, those were all things grown ups did. So I figured when I could do those things then I’d be a grown up too.

What kinds of things did you see grown ups doing when you were little?

Grown-ups could sit still without fidgeting through really boring movies. Grown-ups read parts of the newspaper other than the comics section. Grown-ups felt guilty about eating cake. I still can’t sit still, I don’t subscribe to a newspaper, and I don’t count calories. 😀

Yes on the newspaper thing. I still don’t read much of the newspaper. I do read headlines from several though online.

I have nothing against cake and/or ice cream for breakfast on occasion though.
