Bored?

Way back in high school, or a little earlier, a long time ago anyway, I made a spherical pillow and put the continents on it. It’s a bit over a foot in diameter and it’s a fun little globe. Iddo loves to throw it and sit on it.

A kid 11 going on 12 was at our home recently and saw it. He wanted to know what the big stripy thing on the top was and I told him it was Asia. Then he asked if I always made things when I was bored.

He seemed real confused when I told him no because I’m never bored. I can always find something to do.

Pickles - You want to know what I do when I'm bored?

At what age do we finally figure that out? I can’t remember when I stopped being bored but I know it’s been a long time. Okay, maybe I’ve been bored standing in line at a store a time or two, but who doesn’t get bored there?

Yeah, that’s the only place I get bored too. (Sometimes, I wouldn’t mind being bored for a change). :brett:

For me it’s not so much boredom (except at work) as it is lack of motivation. I have to get my mojo back!

In Primary I asked a 9 year old to either put his toys under his chair and leave them there or I would but them under the microphone podium and he could pick them up after Primary. He looked at me and said, “then how am I going to keep my self entertained?” I told him he would participate in sharing time and singing time and he would have a great time. He looked at me doubtfully but left his things under his chair. This is an on going battle for him and his younger brother. His older brother doesn’t get bored in Primary. :annoyed:

I’m with Heidi that it’s usually a lack of motivation more than boredom, at least lately. It could also be paralysis of choice, sometimes combined with exhaustion or lack of motivation. Tired, want to do something, but which of my several options is most appealing? Sometimes I end up in boring meetings, but they usually aren’t too long. I think I got bored on a plane. I’d finished the task I’d brought, didn’t have enough time to watch the show saved on my compy, and was too tired to try and read the heavily academic book I’d brought, plus I’d played all my favorite games on my phone already and Blake wasn’t there to talk to. So, I was bored. The fact that I can specifically point to a time when I remember being officially bored speaks to how little that actually happens now. Hooray for having lots of interests and hobbies!
