I am worrying, not celebrating

I saw somewhere this week were a person was questioning just who gets to decide what is moral and what is immoral. The fact that this question is even being asked is scary. It is a people without a god that question morality. Humans cannot decide on morality. If you take God out of the picture, you lose the ability to even talk about morals.

And a people without God and a people without morals are people who then say that certain things are a god-given right, things like marriage. Yet it was God who created marriage. It was He who decided what it was, set it up, defined it.

So when lawyers, politicians, and judges then step in to try and change what has been eternally declared, I worry. I worry what type of people it is that would do that, that would think they can change the will and mind of God with some pen strokes and a vote. I worry when a politician says religious people need to rethink eternal truths. But that is what is happening.

Two more states in the United States and one more country in Europe have decided that they can legislate the decrees of God. And I cannot celebrate that. I cannot rejoice. I cannot support that. And I cannot sit silently either.

We further declare that God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife.

We declare the means by which mortal life is created to be divinely appointed. We affirm the sanctity of life and of its importance in God’s eternal plan.

The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan.

We warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets.

We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society.

The Family: A Proclamation to the World

Politicians, lawyers, and judges are pulling society apart one thread at a time with each blow they strike to the family unit ordained of God.

I hope the world listens. Right now it doesn’t seem like it is.
