Otter Pops

A while back I read a post from a friend of mine about how her growing baby was made up of all the things she was eating. Which makes sense when you think about it, but most people don’t think about it. I’ve been thinking about it though, what I eat is what my daughter is made of.

She’s made of Thanksgiving dinner, New Year’s grilled steak, Cheerios, chocolate, pomegranate infused craisins (amazingly good!), yogurt, apples with cheese, lots of waffles and tacos, guacamole, Taco Bell, Chili’s, Little Caesar’s, black beans & rice, homemade pizza, tater tots & hot dogs, orange chicken, chicken teriyaki, Hawaiian haystacks, McBlatts, home grown lettuce and tomatoes, groundhogs in a blanket, stir fry, caldo verde, chicken pot pie, cottage pie, meatloaf, Beyond Bread (Brett told me I could “crave” Beyond Bread whenever I wanted), lamb, pesto meatballs, asparagus rotini. Lots of good stuff. Lots of easy stuff too.

At this point she’s not making any new systems, just developing what she’s got.

I keep reading about how the brain is developing at incredible speeds right now and I need to make sure I’m getting plenty of iodine and omega-3 to help her along with that.

I sure hope there’s a lot of iodine and omega-3 in Otter Pops, because I’m going through those like nobody’s business right now. I had thought the pregnancy would probably run out before the box did, but that’s looking less and less likely as the days go on.

I ate the last popsicle in our freezer this afternoon. I think it’s time to buy more. And I think I’m going to suggest Hawaiian haystacks to Blake for dinner next week.

We tend to do homemade pizza one week and Hawaiian haystacks the next week because he likes olives on his pizza and I like pineapple but neither of us puts an entire can on the pizza. So we make our pizzas with them one week and then use the rest of them the following week.

*adds olives to the shopping list*

We happen to have a lot of the stuff around for random reasons – celery, coconut, chow mein noodles, almonds (I think), chicken, cream of chicken. I think I’ll just need to pick up a tomato and maybe some pineapple. Neither of us loves pineapple though, so maybe not!

You are bringing to my mind many mouth-watering memories. Did you just come up with all that off the top of your head, or did you go back and review our food calendar? :brett:

Totally used the food calendar. Although it would’ve come off the top of my head too if I’d just given it enough time. :lisa:

If your family shopped at Wal-mart, you should have seen boxes of them every summer.

We never had Hawaiian haystacks as kids, so when I first encountered them I was wary. They’re pretty good, but not something I’d think of for dinner, just because they’re not in my frame of reference. Weird, eh?
