Z completes it

When I was reading the book The Wisdom in the Hebrew Alphabet they said that when the whole alphabet is used it denotes completeness, especially if they are used in order. If you were to read the book of Lamentations in Hebrew you would see that the verses in each chapter are in alphabetical order. There are 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet, and they are all there. Chapters 1, 2, and 4 each have 22 verses. Chapter 3 has 66, each letter repeated three times before moving on to the next. Chapter 5 also has 22 verses, but it is not alphabetical. I haven’t found what that means yet. The first four chapters, by including each letter in order, indicate the complete breaking of the commandments of God at that time by the house of Israel.

This month, aside from Sundays, I have used all the letters of my alphabet (the English one), in order. Not that it means the same thing in English, but we do say, “everything from A to Z,” so there is a bit of a similarity there. I have really enjoyed the exercise and stretching my thoughts to see what I’d come up with. I am grateful for all those who have been reading all of this (hi mom!). We’ll have to see what I do next November.

And now that we’re at Z, the month is complete.

Goodnight.

I’ve also heard it said that the first letter aleph and the last letter tav, taken together, are an abbreviated way of expressing the entirety of the alphabet, and thus all of eternity and of creation. It may not mean the same thing in English, but the Greeks seem to have caught hold of the idea: “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”

Good job on making it to the end of a busy month. Love the new layout! :brett:

That is true too. (You really need to read that book of yours!) But if I’d just done A and Z it would’ve made for a boring month.

I had fun decorating everything for Christmas yesterday – house, blog. 😉
