When I decided I didn’t want to go to math

Brett wants daily doses of me, or something. So here’s something he might not know about me.

When we moved to Santa Fe I was in fourth grade. They had me take some tests and decided I should be doing sixth grade math. They told me that while my class was doing math I was to go across the school to a portable and do math with a sixth-grade class.

And I did. For a while. But they never asked me if I wanted to.

About half way through the term I decided I didn’t like the sixth-grade teacher and I didn’t want to go any more. So I stopped going. My fourth grade teacher asked me about it and I told her I didn’t need to go anymore and I just sat in the back of the class and read while she did math with everyone else. :book:

And then mid-term progress reports came out. And I had a zero in math. And that’s when my parents found out I wasn’t going to math. And my teachers realized I wasn’t doing math with either one of them. And I hadn’t been for over a month. So my mom talked to me and I started going back to math in the sixth grade.

And two years later that sixth grade teacher was my sixth grade teacher and I absolutely loved her and she’s a big part of the reason I went into elementary education.
