Sleaze & Filth – Now with Shinier Packaging!

It’s that time of year again. Time for the new season of shows on TV. Lately that means that the TV channels are trying to convince us that their newly packaged sleaze and filth is just the show we want to sit around and watch. Prime time television is no longer prime time for family. And the TV channels will readily admit it.

Check out this article from the Deseret News: Why broadcast shows are looking more like cable.

Pay attention to the part about how a clip from a prime time show is inappropriate for the morning time slot.

Pay attention to the part where they say the prime time show is not appropriate for children but it is okay to expose your teenagers to it if you sit and watch it with them and talk about it. How about we talk about it without having to expose ourselves to it? How about if we don’t have to mentally feed ourselves filth in order to talk about it being inappropriate?

Pay attention to the part where they say the broadcast channels are not selling shows, but are selling viewers to the advertizing sponsors. Can you be sold for sleaze and filth?

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
Proverbs 31:10

I’m worth a lot more than sleaze and filth and will not allow anyone to lower my price.

The FCC might lower its standards, but that doesn’t mean we need to lower ours.

I totally agree with you. We don’t even watch any of the programs. I say Yea to KSL because they are not going to show A New Kind of Normal. Which is about gays.

I watch sports because of the filth on TV and now the commercials are not good either.

My mom still is shocked every time something sleazy comes across the tv at home… she always says things like that would NEVER be shown during daily programming when she was younger…it is so concerning….
More importantly, at least in my opinion are the commercials. They air at all times of the day and some of them have innuendos that embarrass me especially lady’s product commercials. It is all very upsetting!
