Our Dogs
Don Rusty Del Fuego
Rusty was Anjuli's dog. She got him for her 8th birthday in 1990. I remember when we were looking for him my mom saying we needed to go look at Toy Poodles, and I was confused. I thought Anjuli wanted a real dog, not a toy. I didn't realize that "toy" was a type of poodle. Now I know. We give our dog's Spanish names in our family. And Rusty was a pure bred dog. And his mother's name was Fire. So it just seemed natural to name him Don Rusty Del Fuego - Sir Rusty of the Fire. But that's a big name for a little dog, so we just called him Rusty. Family legend says that Grandpa Giles told my parents they couldn't have any red-headed children, so we got a red-headed dog. Rusty was always the royalty in our family. He walked it. He acted it. He knew it. And he made sure we knew it. He was faithful. He was fun. He was our little brother. And when we got Fred, Rusty was a great big brother to Fred. The two of them got along great, and they were almost complete opposites. Friday, the 24th of March 2006, Rusty went to join Fred in heaven. I've put together the pictures I took or Rusty over the last three Christmases. You can watch them by opening up the Windows Media Player File - Rusty1.wmv Don Fredrico Del Sol "Fred" This is my dog, Fred. He passed away in May of 1999 and I still miss him.
