Baby it’s cold outside

An odd blessing to count: If the heater in your house doesn’t work, at least you can live in Tucson.

It’s cold in Tucson right now. I know that’s relative. We aren’t below freezing, but 40 is still real cold. We tried turning on our heater the other morning when we got up. It was 64 degrees in the house when we turned it on. It was 63 in the house after we got dressed and were eating breakfast. Last I checked, that’s not how a heater is supposed to work.

So Thursday we called the heater guys to come fix it on Friday. They said they’d come some time between 2 and 5. Apparently that means 2+5 because they showed up just before 7pm, minutes before our Tucson shin-dig started. So we’re having to reschedule.

Saturday we bought a small space heater to use in whatever room we are in at the time. And we have sweatshirts we wear. And of course no house of mine is ever low on blankets. So we’re warm.

And of course, at least we’re only 40 degrees cold instead of 10 degrees cold without a heater.

(What she didn’t mention is that I enjoy getting up on a crisp cool morning, much more than she does. It works well for both of us. I can flip on the heater for her before I head out for my morning exercise. :turtle: )

Blech. It was 64 degrees in my office this morning. Warmer than outside, sure, but still cold. Aaaand I just checked and it’s only 65. Good heavens. I think I’ll put on the pullover I keep in my office, and my scarf. Brrrrr.

    He’s not a sun. He’s an annoyance. πŸ™‚

See Brett, it works out well for both of us! You get the crisp (read “cold”) morning, and I get the more human temperatures.

I’ve had fun making my own icons. I made all of these:
:x: :cactus: :elephant: :turtle: :daisy: :pansy: :penguin: :star: :apple: :pencil:

Maybe I should make a sun too. And a snowflake. Any others?

We’re rescheduling with the heater guys for tomorrow, after the “winter” storm blows through tonight. πŸ™‚ But the space heater works great. We were both commenting last night how comfortable we were.

What if we used this one as the heater icon?

Not all of us can warm up that way . . .

Yes, please to a sun and a snowflake! Maybe a little computer?

Anyone want to place any bets as to when the heater guy will be here today?

    They said they’d be here between 8am and 10am. It’s now 9am.

You spoke too soon mom. Unless fixed means “comes on and won’t shut off and when you turn it off it starts blowing cold air instead of hot air and so you have to unplug it so it doesn’t run all night.” But that’s not my definition of fixed.

An HVAC guy came yesterday and fixed the upstairs heat in the building, but not mine. I suppose 67 is an improvement, but still.

One day we’ll all be warm. πŸ™‚
