Ahhh! It's August already. Where did my energy go? Where did my summer go? School starts up again in three weeks. Let's hope I'm ready for it by then. I should maybe start thinking about getting the syllabus ready for my class. I need 11 more people to register for it before they give me the money I need to teach it. Everyone keep your fingers crossed.

Shoot. I was going to put out the hammock yesterday for relaxation day. It's a bit hot for that though. I did have a very productive morning and then took it easy in the afternoon. Perhaps that can count for relaxation day. I bought a 2 year pocket calendar (I'm too many places without a computer these days where I need to know what I've got going on different days) yesterday with a beach scene on it too. Beach scenes are always relaxing for me.

School started this week. I guess we're ready for it. If not, I guess we'll fake it. I'm already into chapter two with my class. Should be a good semester.

We put up new blinds in our front room this evening. The old ones were just that, old. And over a month ago Brett was opening one of them when it came crashing down on him. We've had a sheet over the curtain rod since. We ordered some new blinds and they arrived two weeks ago. So today we figured out how to put them up. I really like them. And, best of all, they're cordless. I'm curious how they'll look with light coming through them in the morning. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Happy Labor Day!

We will be celebrating by enjoying the clouds that came in last night and made it a bit cooler and firing up our fire pit again to make some delicious hamburgers. If it doesn't get too windy we might pull out cornhole again too.

It is also sewing machine day. So maybe I should put the knitting needles down and do some work on my sewing machine. But I'm having a lot of fun with the knitting needles. Last night I made an elephant and a moon. Today I made a computer. I'm learning how to pick up stitches and do stranded knitting. And I'm getting a lot better at knitting in the round.

Ah. Fall. Such a lovely time of year. Especially as you look at this graph from the first day of summer to now. There's been a bit of a hiccup this last week, but the general downward trend is really nice (unlike general downward trends in the economy).

It's a lot easier to sleep now than it has been for the last two months. And I'll take that any day.
