9 August 2010, Monday
Because some people write the month first, today would be 08/09/10. Which is pretty cool. Because, you know, numbers are always cool.
I wiggled my toes on Friday. (Wiggle Your Toes Day.) Brett did too. We have cute toes I think. Mine have orange toe nails now. They don't really match the blue shirt I'm wearing today. But I'm not flexible enough to get my toes near my shirt so it isn't a problem.
Saturday I thought about lighthouses. (National Lighthouse Day.) I think I'd like to visit one some day. They seem interesting. But there isn't really a need for them here.
Happy Half Birthday yesterday Dad!
And today is Book Lover's Day. Books are definitely awesome. I've really been enjoying the alphabet non-fiction book challenge since last year too. It's been an amazing journey. I've even been reading books I've owned for many years. Maybe some day I'll actually be able to say I've read all the books I own. But I some how doubt it. There's always more books to buy.
And tomorrow is Zuri's first birthday! She's such a big girl too. I took this photo in November.
11 August 2010, Wednesday
Happy Anniversary to my parents!

13 August 2010, Friday
Happy Left Hander's Day!
I know some pretty cool left handers. And it's always fun to spot them when I'm teaching or in a class.
And I fully intend to enjoy Relaxation Day on Sunday. A Sunday nap will definitely be part of the plan. Now, will I take that nap before church (by sleeping in) or after church? We shall have to see.

24 August 2010, Tuesday
Happy Vesuvius Day!
No volcanos here. But we are having a pretty good storm this evening with lightning and such. Brett did his rain dance again yesterday. But this time he left out the "natural disaster" moves so there haven't been any trees damaged so far.
The semester started yesterday. It looks like it should be a pretty good one. I'm 2.5 years into my 5 year plan to get a doctorate. I'm hoping my time estimate isn't that far off. I should be finishing my required classes this semester and then I can start hitting the research part of the degree hard.

8 September 2010, Wednesday
Happy 08/09/10 for those of us who write the day before the month!
We had a great Labor Day weekend. I'm sure I'll be blogging about it soon.
I didn't read an entire book on the 6th for Read a Book Day. But I did read parts of a book. So I'll count that. Since I'm back to riding the bus again I am definitely reading more books now than I was during the summer.
Yesterday I thought of o país do meu coração (the country of my heart) for Brasil Independence Day. I wonder if I'll ever get back there.
And tomorrow I will be sure to cuddle a teddy bear for Teddy Bear Day. It's definitely a cuddling day tomorrow.
And that's not even all there is to celebrate this week! But I'm going to stop there for now. That is quite a lot already.
19 September 2010, Sunday
It's been a busy week or so holiday wise. There was Sewing Machine Day on the 10th in which I remembered just how grateful I am to have a sewing machine. It's always fun for me to take some flat cloth and make something useful out of it. I made myself a messenger bag for this semester and I'm absolutely loving it. I love making myself bags because I can make them the size I want with the pockets I want.
We celebrated Fortune Cookie Day a bit late and went to Panda Express for dinner on the 14th instead of the 13th. We were celebrating a few other things that day too, like me buying a BMW. (I gave Brett the final amount to pay off his car, so I claim his BMW. Because he'll be paying off my student loans he's claiming my intelligence.)
Heidi has made a tiny felt hat and she's talking of making more. So I imagine she's the perfect person to celebrate Make a Hat Day and Felt Hat Day (both of which were on the 15th). I'm knitting a hat to go with the scarf I made last year. So I imagine that will have to count for me.
And then the 16th was Dieciséis de Speteimbre, Collect Rocks Day, and National Play Doh Day. I wonder where my Play Doh is.

Friday was the 223rd anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the United States of America.
And today is Talk Like a Pirate Day. And I'm finding myself imagining just how different church would've been today if everyone would've observed this odd holiday.
't would've been vastly different than normal, that's fer sure.
24 September 2010, Friday
Happy National Punctuation Day!!!!! (With a lot of extra exclamation marks jut for good measure.)
We didn't celebrate Miniature Golf Day on Tuesday. I haven't been miniature golfing in so long I can't remember. Brett's traditional first date was always miniature golfing. He still hasn't taken me yet.
I did commemorate Elephant Appreciation Day and the Autumnal Equinox on the 22nd though. Can't forget either of those days. Here the start of fall theoretically means the end of 100+ days. I'm really looking forward to it. And so is our grass.
30 September 2010, Thursday

We went out to dinner last night to celebrate.
