The Curitiba temple was dedicated today. What joy is in my heart! My friends, my Brazilian family, now has a temple very close. I am grateful that I had a small part in the building of the Kingdom of God in Curitiba. There is one more temple, one more House of the Lord, here on the earth.

Some news articles about the open house and dedication:

The pictures of the temple are absolutely beautiful. I put the picture of the Celestial room from the press release as my wallpaper on my computer. As I saw it load, my response was a sigh and a verbal "heaven." And then I had to smile. Because that is just what the Celestial room is supposed to represent, heaven. I believe heaven must be that beautiful.

Happy National Bubba Day!!

I don't know either. I just thought it looked like a funny holiday when I was looking for stuff to put on the calendar. I didn't make it up. I don't know how to really celebrate it either. So I'll just have ice cream. That's a good way to celebrate just about anything.

3 June 2008, Tuesday

I was just looking over the statistics for my web site and noticed that I had passed the 20,000 hit mark. So I had to go back and see when that happened. Shortly after 2pm on May 30th, I had my 20,000th visitor. Who knew this site would have that many hits when I started it? I hope the next 20,000 people enjoy it too. (Although I have a sneaking suspicion that my mom counts for a very large percentage of those hits. Hi Mom!)

7 June 2008, Saturday

Today is a real cool date. If you write it month, day, and year, today is 06-07-08! How cool is that!

It's also National Chocolate Ice Cream Day. So I think I'll go have a bowl.

The management would like to apologize for the inconvenience these past few days while the internet ate this web site and refused to give it back. The management does not negotiate with kidnappers and was finally able to over power the internet and the web site was set free. We hope that the internet has learned its lesson and there are no more troubles in the future. Thank you for your patience. Flowers to celebrate this occasion are appreciated.

Happy Sewing Machine Day!!

This is a holiday I can get behind. I'll put up some pictures of the things I sew today later. Right now I need to go to the fabric store and buy ribbon, buttons, patterns...

Happy Flag Day!

I have my (award winning) flag quilt over my fireplace now. It will stay there through most of July I'd imagine.

15 June 2008, Sunday

Happy Father's Day to my dad, grandpa, and Tyler. My dad is the best dad I ever could have asked for. My grandpa is a wonderful patriarch of the Giles clan. And Tyler, you'll be a great dad to my nephew.

And Happy Father's day to all the other fathers I know too.

I don't care if you don't agree with me either, but I believe Father's Day is a day to celebrate all those men who are fathers without having children of their own and all those men who have the potential of being fathers some day as well. So a big pppfftt to you. And I take pictures of that which pleases me. So be quiet about my pictures. I like them.

16 June 2008, Monday

I did it. Last night I got some amazing photos of a saguaro cactus silhouetted against the setting sun. They are amazing pictures. The cactus itself is amazing. I'm sure these are just the first of many more such photos to come.

18 June 2008, Wednesday

It was on this day, 196 years ago, that the War of 1812 started. I think war would be a good reason for some international panicking. But I bet the War of 1812 doesn't have anything to do with today being International Panic Day. I can't really think of anything to panic about today. As I said last night, I've got it pretty good right now.
